Recreation Coordinator

The City of Saratoga Springs has an opening for a part-time Recreation Coordinator. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting city-wide recreational programs. The City currently offers youth soccer, basketball, flag football, t-ball, and tennis programs.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Plan, promote, organize, schedule, and lead activities for recreation programs.
Supervise Assistant Recreation Coordinator
Maintain ongoing inventory control of recreation equipment and supplies
Store and transport equipment
Order uniforms and awards
Paint fields, set up goals, flags, and cones
Assist with registration for programs (all registration is done online)
Answer specific program questions and/or complaints.
Monitor the number of teams or individual registrations for programs
Plan and direct promotion and publicity for programs.
Recruit and assign coaches and officials for various sports
Attend recreational events to ensure smooth operations
Keep time cards for officials and field coordinators
Perform background checks
Survey parents to determine customer satisfaction and plan for future events
Education: Preference will be shown to those who have completed course work in recreation management, physical education or a related field.
Experience: Experience in working with recreational programs
Knowledge of:
Must have a thorough understanding of sporting activities which make up a community recreation program
Possession of personal characteristics that create and maintain interest and enthusiasm with public and private groups and individuals of all ages
Ability to:
Must be able to obtain a first-aid/CPR card
Physical strength and ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to obtain a Utah drivers license
Stamina to occasionally stand and walk for a minimum of four hours
Agility, for example, to climb to areas of facilities as necessary to monitor youngsters attending events.
Sensory ability as necessary to officiate athletic events and to monitor other events for safety and conformance to rules and regulations
Ability to maintain excellent public relations and cooperate with and interpret recreational philosophies to the general public and user groups
Availability to work evenings, weekends, or other irregular hours, and, as necessary, to make and receive contacts by telephone and in person efficiently and effectively during irregular hours
Ability to communicate effectively with the press, as authorized, to inform public of events
Ability to use standard office equipment, including personal computer, at a moderate skill level
SCHEDULE: This position is budgeted for 30 hours per week and the employee will be responsible for setting their own schedule. Some weeks will require more than 30 hours while other weeks will require less hours. This position requires occasional evenings and frequent Saturday work during league play to ensure the smooth operation of recreation leagues.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
