Seasonal Maintenance Worker - Parks

Job Description
The City of Saratoga Springs currently has several openings for Seasonal Maintenance Workers - Parks; this is a seasonal position with the Saratoga Springs Public Works Department of approximately 40 hours per week. This is position under the specific supervision of the Parks Superintendent or designee. This position performs skilled work pertaining to landscape maintenance, and maintenance of Saratoga Springs City parks, streetscapes, park facilities and other Saratoga Springs City property.
â ¢ Perform all aspects of turf management, mowing, line trimming, edging, aerating, fertilizing, herbicide spraying, overseeding, and sod replacement using a variety of application equipment and techniques.
â ¢ Provide care and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and flowers (i.e. planting and proper pruning)
â ¢ Assist in the repair and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and tools
â ¢ Assist in the repair, maintenance & cleaning of City buildings
â ¢ Repair and installs irrigation systems
â ¢ Remove graffiti and repairs vandalism of City property
â ¢ Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
â ¢ A limited number of under 18 years old positions are available, majority of positions are for applicantâ  s over 18 years of age.
â ¢ Graduation from high school, or GED preferred.
â ¢ Previous experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, or related field to demonstrate aptitude or ability to perform above or related duties is preferred.
Certifications Required:
â ¢ A valid Utah Driverâ  s License
â ¢ First Aid and CPR Certification (ability to obtain)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
â ¢ Demonstrate the ability to follow City policies and procedures
â ¢ Knowledge of the principles and practices of park maintenance
â ¢ Ability to maintain records and task lists
â ¢ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others (i.e. employees, volunteers, and the general public)
â ¢ Ability to understand and follow oral instructions

Additional Information
Working approximately 40 hours a week, specific schedule to be set with the Parks Superintendent upon hiring; students may apply to work a reduced work week while enrolled in school.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
